
Senior leader Manish Khanduri, who had resigned from Congress a day earlier, joined BJP on Saturday. He took membership of BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP National General Secretary and state election in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, State President Mahendra Bhatt, Rajya Sabha member Naresh Bansal in a program organized at BJP Metropolitan Office. Manish Khanduri is the son of former Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri. He joined Congress before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Then he also contested elections from Garhwal parliamentary seat on Congress ticket. This time also he was considered a contender for Congress ticket.

In a post on internet media, Manish Khanduri said that he is voluntarily resigning. He wrote that I am resigning from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress Party with immediate effect.
Did not talk to Congress leaders
State Congress President Karan Mahara said that he tried to contact Manish over phone, but could not. He said that there could be some personal or family pressure behind Manish’s departure from the party.
