Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is keeping a close watch on the Chardham Yatra arrangements. On Friday, he reviewed the arrangements in a virtual meeting with officials from Uttarakhand Sadan in Delhi. He bluntly instructed that high officials of the government and IG level officers of the police should remain in the field continuously for better conduct of the Yatra. He said that if devotees reach the Dhams without registration, then the concerned authorities will be held accountable for this. All departments should discharge their responsibilities with full devotion for the smooth conduct of the Yatra with mutual coordination. If negligence is found at any level, direct action will be taken.
Priority should be given to senior citizens
The Chief Minister directed to form a committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan for continuous monitoring of Chardham Yatra. He also said that it should be ensured that all the devotees get equal time for darshan in the Dhams. Also, priority should be given to senior citizens in registration and darshan arrangements. He asked to leave the vehicles going to Kedarnath, Badrinath from Rishikesh, Haridwar and other halting points at different times. Instructions were also given that if necessary, the time period for darshan in the Dhams should be increased in coordination with BKTC.
Preparations should be complete for monsoon season
Referring to the upcoming monsoon season, the Chief Minister said that all preparations should be completed in time to deal with the problems that may arise during the rainy season during the yatra. He also gave instructions regarding regular cleaning, providing drinking water and other basic facilities at the halting places fixed for the devotees, and deployment of police force as per requirement. He said that conducting the Yatra is the collective responsibility of all of us and it is our duty to serve the devotees. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and other officials were present in the meeting.
