Biometric attendance mandatory in all hospitals of Uttarakhand, Health Minister gave instructions

admin June 21, 2025

Doctors and paramedical staff in government hospitals of the state will now have biometric attendance. Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has given clear instructions that this system should be implemented compulsorily in all government hospitals and medical colleges of Uttarakhand. Dr. Rawat said that this step has been taken to improve health services across the state and provide facilities to the patients. He said that there were repeated complaints that many doctors and paramedical staff remain absent from duty without taking leave. This affects the system of hospitals and patients have to wander for treatment. The minister said that this situation will not be tolerated at all. Strict instructions have been given to the Director General of Health and Director Medical Education that biometric attendance machines should be installed in all district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, combined hospitals, primary health centers and sub-centers as well as all medical colleges of the state as soon as possible.

The Health Minister said that the attendance of all employees will be monitored through biometric attendance. If any doctor or employee is found absent without taking leave, his salary will be cut. Not only this, disciplinary action will also be taken against him. For this, Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of all districts and heads of medical education institutions have been instructed. Apart from this, district administration officials will also conduct surprise inspections of hospitals from time to time. The minister said that the government is completely serious about ensuring that patients coming to hospitals do not face any kind of inconvenience. He said that the primary responsibility of doctors and paramedical staff is to serve the patients. Strict action is certain against those who are negligent in their duty. Dr. Rawat said that the government is constantly making efforts to strengthen health services and provide better facilities to the public. Implementing biometric attendance is a part of that series.
