Even though a fortnight is left for the Lok Sabha elections, the sequence of burglaries in political parties still continues. In this series, former state general secretary of Congress and candidate in the assembly elections, SP Singh Engineer, joined the membership of BJP along with his supporters on Wednesday. This is being considered a big blow for Congress in Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency. In a program organized at the state BJP headquarters, BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt and state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan welcomed SP Singh Engineer and his supporters into the BJP. On this occasion, State President Bhatt assured respect to all the newcomers and asked them to immediately join the election campaign.
State media in-charge Chauhan said that BJP candidates are certain to win all five Lok Sabha seats in the state by a margin of more than five lakh votes each. SP Singh Engineer, who joined BJP, said that when the country and the state are moving towards becoming developed, how can we sit outside. That is why by joining BJP they will help in strengthening the hands of Prime Minister Modi.
Many Congress leaders joined BJP
Many leaders have left Congress and joined BJP. At Chetan Jyoti Ashram, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt got everyone membership of BJP by making a missed call on the party’s toll free number. BJP candidate from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat Trivendra Singh Rawat was also present on this occasion. On Wednesday, apart from Congress’s Purushottam Sharma and Swami Rishishwaranand, Congress Seva Dal state president and former office-bearer Rajesh Rastogi, Congress spokesperson Deepak Jakhmola, Tosh Jain, Monica Jain and Satyanarayan Sharma joined the BJP. Let us tell you, Purushottam Sharma has previously contested Haridwar assembly elections on Congress ticket, while Swami Rishishwaranand Maharaj has been the mayor candidate from Congress in 2013. During this, Purushottam Sharma said that he has joined the party after being influenced by the customs and policies of BJP. Apart from this, Rajesh Rastogi accused Harish Rawat of nepotism. On this occasion, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt and Trivendra Rawat welcomed everyone and said that there is dissatisfaction in the Congress not only in the state but in the entire country.
