BJP waging a decisive war against drug abuse in Punjab: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Bharatiya Janata Party is waging a decisive war against substance abuse in Punjab. He said that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to save the young generation from getting in the grip of drugs. The CM was addressing public meetings under the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ of BJP in Hoshiarpur and Mukerian in Punjab on Saturday. The BJP’s Yatra, which will traverse through various assembly constituencies in Punjab, aims to raise public awareness and increase public participation against drug abuse.

Dhami said that the Yatra is an important initiative of BJP to free Punjab from the scourge of drug addiction and secure the future of the young generation. He said that Punjab is known for its bravery, hard work and patriotism.

The CM said that before coming to power, the Aam Aadmi Party had made numerous promises to the people of Punjab regarding the menace of drugs. He said that the AAP government had failed to fulfil its promises and the problem of drugs continues to remain a serious challenge for Punjab.

He said that on one hand, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the union government is giving priority to action and awareness against drugs while in Punjab,  the BJP is trying to unite every section of the society against drugs in Punjab.  Dhami averred that the fight against drug addiction is not just a political one but a fight for the future of Punjab’s future generations. This requires the combined efforts of government, society, families and youth. He called on the people of Punjab, especially the youth, to actively participate in this campaign against drug addiction.

Former union minister of state Som Prakash, MLA Jangi Lal Mahajan, BJP district president Sanjeev Minhas and others accompanied Dhami.
