
Once again in Uttarakhand, BJP has hoisted the flag on all five Lok Sabha seats of the state. Union Minister of State Ajay Bhatt has won the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar parliamentary seat for the second time in a row, while Trivendra Singh Rawat from Haridwar and Maharani Rajya Lakshmi Shah from Tehri Garhwal seat have also been victorious. BJP’s Anil Baluni from Garhwal parliamentary seat and Ajay Tamta from Almora also won by a huge margin of votes over their nearest rivals. Voters in the state played an important role in giving a huge victory to the BJP on the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development work done during the last 10 years. As far as the Congress is concerned, the party’s hands remained empty again. The big leaders of the Congress themselves were hesitant to contest the Lok Sabha elections. The result of this is that the party is going to be wiped out in the third consecutive election in the state.

Voting for Lok Sabha elections was held on 19 April in the first phase in Uttarakhand. In this election, the main contest was between Congress and BJP. A total of 55 candidates contested on all five seats. BJP has hoisted the victory flag on all five seats for the third consecutive time. With this, it has also become the first party to win all the seats in the state in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections.
Ajay Bhatt’s biggest victory in terms of number of votes
Union Minister of State Ajay Bhatt registered the biggest victory in terms of number of votes. He defeated his nearest rival Prakash Joshi of Congress by 3,34,548 votes. Ajay Bhatt got a total of 7,72, 671 and Joshi got 4,38123 votes.
BJP candidate Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah from Tehri seat defeated Jot Singh Gunsola of Congress by 2,72,493 votes. Maharani Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah got a total of 462603 votes and Jot Singh Gunsola of Congress got 190110 votes. Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat defeated Virendra Rawat of Congress by 1,64,056 votes from Haridwar Parliamentary seat. Trivendra Singh Rawat got 6,53,808 votes and Virendra Rawat got 4,89,752 votes.
BJP’s Anil Baluni won the Garhwal Parliamentary seat by 1,63,503 votes, getting 4,32,159 votes over his nearest rival Ganesh Godiyal of Congress who got 2,68,656 votes. BJP candidate Ajay Tamta from Almora Parliamentary seat got 4,29,167 votes, while his nearest rival Pradeep Tamta got 1,95,070 votes. Ajay Tamta defeated Pradeep Tamta by 2,34097 votes. Out of the 55 candidates who contested, 44 lost their deposits. As far as clean sweep is concerned, in 2009, all five seats went to the Congress, while after that in 2014, 2019 and now, BJP won all the seats. Despite this historic performance, BJP’s total vote percentage in the state has declined this time.
