Customers are often seen avoiding the GST bill. However, to spread awareness among consumers, the Uttarakhand government had started the Bring Bill, Get Reward scheme last year. Impressed by this scheme, the Central Government is also adopting this scheme. Now the Central Government has also adopted the Bring Bill Reward Scheme, which was started to make consumers aware to collect GST bill on purchase of goods. Let us tell you that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to start this scheme after the implementation of GST.
Uttarakhand Finance Minister Premchand Aggarwal said that with the aim of increasing GST collection and encouraging consumers to take bills on purchasing goods, the Uttarakhand government had launched the Bill Bring Reward Scheme last year on September 1, 2022. He said that compared to last year, an increase of 18 percent has been recorded in the revenue received from GST in the month of September this financial year. Revenue of Rs 503 crore was received in September 2022 while revenue of Rs 595 crore was received in September 2023. Apart from this, compared to Rs 3,597 crore revenue from April to September last year, Rs 3,965 crore revenue has been received from April to September this year, which has seen an increase of 10 percent.
Following the footsteps of this scheme, the Central Government has started a scheme named Mera Bill Mera Adhikar in five states as a pilot project for six months. This initiative of the state has also been highly appreciated in the GST Council meeting. The Central Government has also inspired other state governments to operate this scheme like Uttarakhand. Let us tell you that at present the Central Government has started the Mera Bill Mera Adhikar scheme in Assam, Gujarat, Haryana and Union Territories of Puducherry and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
