Centre’s support to help disaster-affected Uttarakhand, sent a proposal for compensation of Rs 5700 crore

Uttarakhand, which is facing the brunt of the disaster, is now eyeing central help to recover from it. A proposal for compensation of Rs 5700 crore has been sent to the Centre by the state. In this episode, the central inter-ministerial team is engaged in assessing the damage in the disaster-affected areas of the state. Not only this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to visit the disaster-affected areas on September 11. In such a situation, the state is expected to get a big amount of assistance from the Centre soon. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also directed the administrative machinery to be ready to get ready for repair and reconstruction work as soon as the rainy season ends, in a meeting with the officials. Along with this, he has also asked to ensure adequate availability of relief material, ration for the disaster-affected till the rainy season. The disaster has wreaked havoc in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, Nainital, Rudraprayag and other districts this monsoon. The proposal has been sent to the Center by the state government after assessing the damage. In view of the assessment of damage, a seven-member inter-ministerial central team constituted by the Central Government reached Dehradun on Monday. It is being led by Joint Secretary R Prasanna in the Union Home Ministry. The team took information about the damage caused by the disaster in a meeting held at the State Emergency Operations Center in the morning. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman gave a presentation in this regard. After this, the team left to assess the damage caused by the disaster. Different teams of the inter-ministerial central team took stock of the damage by conducting aerial and ground inspections in Dharali, Harshil, Mukhwa of Uttarkashi, Tharali, Chepdo, Kotdeep, Radibaghad, Mopata, Nandanagar of Chamoli district and Paunsari, Bausani area of ​​Bageshwar district. Also talked to local officials and disaster affected people. This team will submit its report to the Center. Here, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with top officials and DM connected through virtual medium at his residence on Monday. He asked to make proper arrangements for accommodation, food and other essential facilities for the disaster affected. He also instructed to quickly assess the damage caused to crops, drinking water lines and government property and submit a report to the government.

Strict ban on construction near rivers and canals
The Chief Minister instructed to strictly enforce the ban on permission for construction near rivers and canals. He also asked to fix the responsibility of the concerned officials and take strict action in case of non-compliance. He also asked all DMs to immediately provide assistance to the disaster affected according to the set standards.
The team will visit Pauri, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Nainital today. The central team will visit the disaster affected areas of Pauri, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Nainital on Tuesday. According to Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, the central team will return to Dehradun in the evening.
