Those voting in hotels and restaurants in the state on April 19 and the next day on April 20 will be given 20 percent discount on the bill. An agreement in this regard has been signed between the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and the Hotel and Restaurant Association. The State Chief Electoral Officer Office is emphasizing on increasing the voting percentage this year. A target of 75 percent voting has been set in the state. Many steps are also being taken for this. In this regard, an agreement was signed between the Chief Electoral Officer and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
It has been clarified in the agreement that 20 percent discount on food and beverages (not liquor) will be provided to the visitors to all the hotels and restaurants under the association. For this, those coming to the hotel will have to show the mark of the ink used for voting on their finger. This discount will be given on both 19th and 20th April. In return for this, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer will provide certificates of appreciation to these hotels and restaurants.
Instructions for protection from cold weather and heat wave according to geographical conditions
Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam has instructed all the polling personnel and voters to ensure necessary arrangements regarding protection from bad weather conditions and heat wave as per the geographical conditions on the day of polling. He said that in view of this, proper arrangements should be made in the polling stations like sheds, water, coolers and fans etc. In the meeting held in the auditorium of the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Electoral Officer said that keeping in view the geographical conditions of the state and the election process being held in the first phase, preparations should be made to deal with the weather as per the circumstances. Personnel posted in hilly areas should be asked to keep warm clothes with them and proper arrangements for beds should be made for them. The Chief Electoral Officer said that necessary arrangements should be ensured for protection from heat wave in the three plain districts of the state, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. To increase the voting percentage in the state, the Chief Electoral Officer directed the Director General of Health to make arrangements for doli etc. for pregnant women.
He asked all the department heads present in the meeting to organize voter awareness programs and also to regularly visit the internet media handles of the Election Commission of India and CEO Uttarakhand. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Additional Secretary Urban Development Nitin Bhadauria, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Namami Bansal along with officials of Meteorological Department, Water Institute, Health Department were present in the meeting.
