
Himalayan Basket has also been formally launched in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched this brand focused on the products of the Himalayan region in the state from Chief Sevak Sadan on Monday. On this occasion, while addressing the people associated with Champawat virtually, he said that the government is committed to encourage those who are working to promote local products. He also reiterated his resolve to make Champawat an ideal city.
Churpi and ghee made from milk are in high demand abroad
The Chief Minister said that Himalayan Basket was started in the year 2018 by Sumit and Sneha Thapliyal, residents of Uttarakhand. Sumit is an engineer by profession, while Sneha is a marketing professional. Wanting to do something different and with the aim of providing employment to the local residents, both of them started Himalayan Basket after discussing dairy, farming and various aspects related to it. Under Himalayan Basket, products like milk, turmeric, mint are purchased and various products are prepared and exported. This initiative has provided employment to 200 persons. He said that Churpi and Ghee made from milk are in high demand abroad. Churpi is a special hard cheese made from cow’s milk.
Our resolve is to make Champawat an ideal – Dhami
Himalayan Basket has taken the lead in producing both of these. In view of this, Himalayan Basket requested the government to provide a cold store in Champawat district for setting up a big production unit. He has been given a cold store for horticulture on lease. He said that our dream and resolution is to make Champawat ideal. Therefore the products here should also be ideal.
On this occasion it was informed that Himalayan Basket has set up a new production unit in cold store under MSME. Himalayan Basket signed an MoU worth Rs 200 crore in the state during the Bengaluru roadshow last year. This investment will be made in the next seven years.
