Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the newly constructed SDRF Headquarters and Fire Station at Jollygrant on Monday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also honored the SDRF jawans by giving them citations. During the program, the Chief Minister announced that for the rescue operations carried out by SDRF at a height of more than 11 thousand feet, gazetted officers working in SDRF on the lines of other paramilitary forces and non-gazetted officers and Employees will be provided risk allowance of Rs 1000 per day. With the aim of increasing the participation of women in disaster management, a sixth company of SDRF will be formed, in which one-third women personnel will be appointed on priority basis. SDRF The time period of deputation will be increased from 07 years to 10 years.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the SDRF team on the occasion of the inauguration of the newly constructed SDRF Training Center and Corps Headquarters. He said that it is a matter of pleasure for me that I am getting the opportunity to dedicate this newly constructed SDRF headquarter to the state as a chief servant today. Built at a cost of about Rs 144.43 crore, the headquarters of SDRF will also have other activities in terms of training and disaster management. He said that the SDRF jawans and officers are discharging their duties with courage, valor, service and dedication. Their sacrifice and efficiency are exemplary. The courage with which they work in adverse circumstances is commendable.
The Chief Minister said that in the event of a natural calamity, our police personnel take charge and come forward to save lives. Ever since the formation of SDRF in the state in 2013, SDRF has done exemplary and effective work from time to time in Devbhoomi at the time of disaster. Since its inception, more than 12,000 injured have been successfully rescued by SDRF in more than 3,000 rescue operations and about 2,000 dead bodies have also been recovered in adverse conditions. SDRF Uttarakhand, due to its efficiency and rescue efficiency, has created a unique identity in the minds of millions of people coming to the state every year for religious, spiritual and adventure tourism along with the general public of the state. Along with relief and rescue operations in critical situations, public awareness programs are also conducted on a large scale by the SDF to make the general public aware of the magnitude of the disaster and to develop community capacity.
The Chief Minister said that after the natural landslide incident in Joshimath a few months ago, along with the relief and rescue work, the work of making people aware was also done by our SDRF jawans and officers very efficiently. SDRF also played a major role in rescuing the stranded trekkers after the Uttarkashi Avalanche incident. He expressed hope that in the same way SDRF will continue to do important work of rescue and relief at the time of any disaster efficiently.
Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that with the establishment of the SDRF headquarters, the jawans would get training and other facilities. He said that since our Himalayan region is a disaster prone area, it is necessary to strengthen SDRF. Ever since the formation of SDRF, commendable work has been done by them in the field of disaster management. He said that keeping in view the uneven geographical conditions of the state, the SDRF will have to move forward in the direction of training people even at the district and divisional level.
Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi said that since the formation of SDRF in Uttarakhand, commendable work is being done by them. SDRF is moving forward as a motivational force. It is working as a strong force from the point of view of disaster management.
Director General of Police Ashok Kumar said that 05 companies of SDRF are working. SDRF teams have been arranged at 39 places in the state. SDRF jawans have shown their efficiency by doing commendable work during disasters.
On this occasion, MLA Brij Bhushan Gairola, Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Additional Director General of Police Dr. P.V.K. Prasad, IGSDRF Riddhim Agarwal, Commander SDRF Manikant Mishra and senior police officers were present.
