This day has become memorable forever as the bill regarding implementation of Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand was presented in the Assembly on Tuesday. It’s but natural. After independence, the work which other states could not do till now, was done by the Uttarakhand government. Once this bill is passed in the House and then approved by the Rashtrapati Bhavan after the Raj Bhavan, the Uniform Civil Code law will come into force in the state. With this, Uttarakhand will become the first such state in the country.
This initiative will become an example for the states
Not only this, while this initiative of Dhami government will become an example for other states, it has also increased the political stature of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami across the country. Since taking charge as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in March 2021, Pushkar Singh Dhami and his government have been at the center of discussion across the country by taking important decisions one after the other.
Announcement was made in 2022 assembly elections
Chief Minister Dhami had announced in the 2022 assembly elections that if he comes to power again, Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state. The public accepted this and as a result BJP government was formed in the state for the second consecutive time. As per his promise, in the first cabinet meeting of the second term, the Chief Minister also decided to constitute an expert committee to prepare a draft for implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the state. After this, an expert committee was formed and after receiving the draft from the committee, the government has now presented a bill related to this in the Assembly.
BJP ruled states can bring UCC
If UCC becomes law, civil laws will also become uniform for everyone in the state. After the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code law, other states will also be able to take similar initiatives in their states. Especially the BJP ruled states can move forward in this direction, while others will be under pressure to do so. Looking back a little, the government has made a strict law to prevent cheating in recruitment examinations in the state. This is being said to be the toughest law in the country.
Rules will be strict from love jihad to land jihad
Not only this, now the Central Government has also brought a bill related to anti-copying law in the Parliament on Monday. If we look at other decisions of the Dhami government, the campaign to remove encroachment from government land along with making the laws stricter to stop land jihad was at the center of discussion across the country. Similarly, with a view to curb Love Jihad, the stringent provisions of the Conversion Act were also at the center of discussion. The picture is similar regarding other steps of the government also.
Chief Minister Dhami’s political stature increased
Overall, important decisions of the government have also helped in enhancing the political stature of Chief Minister Dhami. This is also proved by the fact that in the assembly elections held some time ago, the BJP leadership had fielded Chief Minister Dhami. Now that Lok Sabha elections are round the corner, the BJP leadership will try to take advantage of this initiative of Uttarakhand in the coming days. Also, there is no doubt that Chief Minister Dhami will be used more and more in the elections.
