Amidst the ongoing action against illegally run madrasas in Uttarakhand, the government is also concerned about the children studying there. These children will be admitted to nearby schools or recognized madrasas according to their interest. Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board is going to send a letter to the District Magistrates of the concerned districts in this regard. Board Chairman Mufti Shamoon Qazmi confirmed this. About 450 madrasas registered with the Madrasa Education Board in the state are recognized, while more than 500 are being run without any recognition. The number of illegally run madrasas is high in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar districts, while such madrasas are running in other districts as well. In view of all this, the government has taken a tough stand against illegal madrasas. So far, more than 160 madrasas have been sealed in various districts of the state. Also, the government has ordered the District Magistrates to investigate the funding of these madrasas. Not only this, there are preparations to change the system of giving recognition to madrasas. Along with this, the government is now also concerned about the children studying in illegal madrasas. According to Mufti Shamoon Qasmi, President of Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board, action is being taken against illegal madrasas running without registration and recognition. No discrimination of any kind is being done in this. He said that it has been decided to get the children studying in the sealed madrasas admitted to the nearest government schools or recognized madrasas. In this regard, a request will be made by sending a letter to the District Magistrates.
Congress vocal on action against illegal madrasas
Government figures show that the number of madrasas running without registration in the state is about 500. Action has been taken against more than 159 madrasas in many districts so far. The maximum number of 64 madrasas have been sealed in Udham Singh Nagar. After this, action was taken against madrasas in Dehradun and Haridwar districts. Congress is raising questions on the intention of the government regarding action against madrasas. A delegation of MLAs and other leaders from Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, led by former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, had met Chief Secretary Radha Raturi in the Secretariat last Thursday and protested against this action.
