Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the relief and rescue operations following the disaster caused by heavy rainfall in the capital Dehradun and other parts of the state. After visiting the disaster-affected areas on Tuesday, he reviewed the situation late at night at the State Emergency Operations Center in Dehradun’s IT Park. He gave clear instructions to officials that there should be no laxity in relief and rescue operations. Officials should visit the affected areas and address the problems of the affected people.
The Chief Minister reviewed the relief and rescue operations from officials of the Disaster Management Department, SDRF, district administration, and other related agencies. He also took details of the damage in the disaster-affected districts and directed that relief and rescue operations be conducted on a war footing.
He said that all possible assistance should be provided immediately to those affected by the heavy rains. The search for missing persons should be carried out on a war footing, and stranded citizens should be evacuated to safety. He stated that the government stands shoulder to shoulder with the affected families in this hour of crisis. In view of the rain alert issued by the Meteorological Department, the Chief Minister directed all districts to exercise special vigilance for the next three days. He also directed the State Emergency Operations Center to monitor the situation arising from the heavy rainfall in the state and coordinate with the districts and various departments to effectively conduct relief and rescue operations. He also stressed the need to further strengthen weather forecasting.

Government and administration are on alert mode

The Chief Minister stated that the government and administration are fully alert and prepared to deal with any emergency. He also praised the work of the SDRF and the Energy Corporation. He directed the district administration to maintain special vigilance in sensitive areas and ensure the supply of food, drinking water, medical facilities, and electricity to relief camps.

Health Department Remains Alert
The Chief Minister issued special instructions to the Health Department, stating that it is essential to be vigilant against potential diseases that may spread after a disaster. Therefore, the department should ensure appropriate action.

Conduct a River Survey
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to conduct a survey of the state’s rivers. He said that the survey should assess the riverbed and its current level. A study report should be submitted on its previous level and its current level. He also called for the dredging and channelization of rivers and drains to begin immediately.
