The Uniform Civil Code is getting full support from the general public in the state. Within four months of the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, more than one and a half lakh people have applied for marriage registration so far. Applications for various types of registration have also come from 98 percent of the villages of the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave a detailed presentation on the Uniform Civil Code in the Chief Minister’s Council meeting held in New Delhi on Sunday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that a strong system has been created to implement the Uniform Civil Code. A portal and dedicated mobile app have been developed with the aim of making the process more accessible and easy for the general public. More than 14 thousand public facilities centers have been linked to it at the village level. He informed that auto escalation and grievance redressal system has also been implemented to overcome the problems faced at the time of registration. Chief Minister Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their guidance and cooperation in successfully implementing the Uniform Civil Code.
He said that the Uniform Civil Code is a constitutional measure to end discrimination in legal matters on the basis of differences in caste, religion, gender etc. Through this, an attempt has been made to give equal rights to all citizens. Its implementation will ensure women empowerment in the true sense in the state. Through this, the evil practices of Halala, Iddat, polygamy, child marriage, triple talaq etc. can be completely stopped.
He said that the Scheduled Tribes described under Article 342 of the Constitution have been kept out of the purview of this code, so that they and their customs can be protected. He said that this is not against any religion or sect, but a legal effort to establish harmony among citizens by eradicating the evil practices of the society. Along with the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, an effective and clear rulebook has also been implemented for its implementation.
