CM Dhami pays tribute to martyrs, says: ‘Strict decisions taken against land jihad, love jihad, and spitting jihad’

admin October 3, 2025

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage to the martyrs of the Uttarakhand statehood movement at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Rampur Tiraha. On this occasion, the Chief Minister stated that strict decisions have been taken against love jihad, land jihad, and spitting jihad to protect the culture of Uttarakhand. Remembering the Rampur Tiraha massacre, the Chief Minister said that October 2, 1994, is recorded as a dark chapter in the history of Uttarakhand. This incident was even more brutal than the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which the court also acknowledged. He said that they will not rest until justice is served to the freedom fighters and their families. Recalling the role of women in the statehood movement, he said that the state government has provided 30 percent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs. Similarly, 10 percent reservation in government jobs has been implemented for the freedom fighters and their dependents.

Madrasas to follow school curriculum, otherwise they will be closed
Chief Minister Dhami said that illegal shrines and mosques have been demolished in Uttarakhand to protect the traditional culture. Compensation is also being recovered from rioters. He informed that the state government has already taken steps to abolish the Madrasa Board. Approximately 250 madrasas have been closed so far. From July 1, 2026, only those madrasas that adopt the government-prescribed school curriculum will be allowed to operate.

9000 acres of government land freed from encroachment
Chief Minister Dhami said that the government is committed to preserving the demographics of the land of the gods, Uttarakhand. A strict anti-conversion law has been implemented in the state. More than nine thousand acres of government land have been freed from encroachment so far. As a result of implementing the anti-cheating law in the state, more than 25,000 youth have received government jobs in the last four years. Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). In addition, under Operation Kalnemi, strict action is being taken against those who defame Sanatan culture.

Re-development plan for the memorial site
Chief Minister Dhami made three announcements from the stage. He said that a re-development plan will be prepared for the memorial site. A grand canteen will be established there, which will be built by the Culture Department. A bus stop for Uttarakhand State Transport buses will be constructed at Rampur Tiraha, so that this site remains a symbol of remembrance for the people of Uttarakhand and the sacrifices of the martyrs are kept alive. The Chief Minister unveiled the statue of Pandit Mahavir Sharma. Mahavir Sharma had donated his land for the construction of the memorial. His son, Pappu Sharma, honored the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand by presenting him with a shawl.
