
Timeline has been set for the construction of Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project and Song Dam Drinking Water Project, important for Uttarakhand. The target has been set to complete the Jamrani Dam Project by March 2029. So far, Rs 678 crore has been spent on this project of Rs 3638 crore.
Apart from this, work is going on on the Song Dam Project, which will be completed by March 2030. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the schemes of Irrigation, Minor Irrigation and Rural Construction Department in the Secretariat on Friday. This period was fixed in it. The Chief Minister directed to expedite the work of these projects. When the Jamrani Dam Project is constructed, it will provide 117 MLD (Million Liters Daily) drinking water to Haldwani city and its surrounding areas. Along with this, irrigation facility will be available in 57 thousand hectares of area. The Song Dam project will provide 150 MLD drinking water through gravity for the estimated population of Dehradun city and suburban areas till the year 2053. Once both the projects take shape, the excessive use of groundwater in these areas will also be curbed. Chief Minister Dhami reviewed these two projects and other schemes in a review meeting held on Friday. He said that the work should be done speedily so that the Jamrani and Song Dam projects take shape on time.
Work should be done on a large scale to conserve water sources
While giving instructions to work on a large scale for the conservation and promotion of natural water sources, the Chief Minister said that water is the basis of life and prosperity. Therefore, along with water conservation, continuous efforts should be made towards the revival of water streams and ravines.
Need to pay special attention to groundwater recharge
The Chief Minister pointed out the need to pay special attention to the recharge of groundwater. Along with this, irrigation, minor irrigation and municipal bodies in urban areas were asked to work together for rainwater conservation. He also directed to expedite the works of drainage plan of various cities during rainy season. He said that special attention should also be paid to innovation for these works.
Irrigation canals should be used for maximum benefit
The Chief Minister also asked to ensure that people get maximum benefit from irrigation canals. He directed the Irrigation Department and Mining Department to hold a meeting and find a proper solution for the removal of silt deposited in rivers and reservoirs.
Work is going on on 61 roads
The Chief Minister was informed in the meeting that work is going on on 61 roads in the state under the Chief Minister Gram Sampark Yojana. Vice President of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dabar, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and other officials were present in the meeting.
