Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Chief Secretary to prepare an action plan to effectively use the National Games framework in the state. He said that such arrangements should be made in the state so that high-level training and sports facilities are continuously available to the players around their home. After the unprecedented success of the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand, now the state government is moving forward with a new vision and strategy regarding sports. The CM believes that the 38th National Games were not just an event, but it has proved to be a historic turning point in the sports journey of Uttarakhand. For the first time, the state secured seventh place in the medal tally by winning more than 100 medals and attracted the attention of the whole country with its performance. He said that the commitment of the government towards sports and the hard work of the players together have made this extraordinary achievement possible. Maharana Pratap Sports College in Dehradun and Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in Haldwani have been equipped with modern facilities. Along with this, the plan to establish 23 sports academies in eight cities of the state is also part of the legacy plan. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is being seen as a sports land today, it is a matter of pride for the entire state. The success of the National Games has awakened a new consciousness. The government is fully engaged in the all-round development of sports and players. A new and bright future is taking shape for sports talent everywhere from the plains to the mountains.
The new sports policy boosted the morale of the players
The Chief Minister said that the positive results of the new sports policy implemented in the year 2021 have started showing. In this, provision has been made to give attractive incentives, government jobs, scholarships and honors to the players according to their achievements. The announcement of giving an amount of up to Rs 2 crore to the Olympic level medal winners has brought new enthusiasm among the players.
Youth will get opportunities in Sports University
The CM said that the sports university to be built in Haldwani will institutionalize the sports culture of the state. It will not only become a centre for training and research but will also provide opportunities to the youth in coaching, sports science, physiotherapy, management etc.
