In view of the recent conversion related activities in the state, the state government is going to take a tough stand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to make the existing conversion law more stringent. In this, now the period of punishment and the amount of fine can be increased. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also given instructions to constitute an SIT at the headquarters level to keep a constant watch on Mission Kalanemi.
On Monday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with senior officials in the Secretariat. He said that Uttarakhand is a border land as well as the holy land of Sanatan. For this, any attempt to change the demography here should be strictly stopped. He said that the police should keep a constant watch on such suspicious activities. People trapped in the trap of elements doing conversion should be given proper counseling and guidance. He said that the conversion law should be made more stringent. At present, there is a provision of imprisonment up to ten years and a fine of Rs 50,000 if found guilty under the conversion law in the state. Now it can be increased further.
Chief Minister Dhami said that Mission Kalanemi has been successful in curbing those who deceive the common people by disguising themselves. This campaign needs to be carried forward as well. Therefore, an SIT should be formed to monitor it at the level of Police Headquarters. In line with the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Home Department has also started preparing to make this law stricter. For this, the existing provisions are being studied, it is being seen which of these provisions can be made more strict.
