Raksha Mantri will also inaugurate the Soul of Steel Alpine Challenge, a one-of-a-kind adventure sports joint initiative by the Indian Army and CLAW Global (an organization run by Special Forces veterans).
Ibex and Veteran’s oldest brigade of Indian Army’s start up Claw Global started in the year 2019. who have come together under the banner of Army Adventure Wing to organize Soul of Steel Alpine Challenge.
The Army will assist it in terms of access, clearance and contingency assistance if required. CLAW will plan and execute the operation as per the specifications laid down by the Indian Army. As per the MoU, international participants are allowed to participate in the expedition with full monitoring subject to government approval.
The oldest brigade is Ibex:
The Ibex Brigade of the Indian Army is the oldest brigade established in 1905 which is also the only independent mountain brigade. This brigade based in Joshimath is ready to protect the northern borders. The Steel Alpine Challenge will be conducted in four stages. International participants will participate in the third phase.
Participants can register themselves on the website to be launched on Saturday. Military officials say that this bold campaign will also generate employment opportunities and promote tourism in the state.
Soul of Steel will also train the participants for mountaineering in the Garhwal Himalayas. The six-member team to represent India will be selected through a series of physical and mental activities in the final phase of the campaign.
