Dehradun:
Dehradun Police have successfully solved the sensational murder of a businessman and tennis player near Tibetan Market, arresting the main shooter and his accomplice after separate encounters at different locations. Both accused sustained bullet injuries in their legs during the police action and are currently undergoing treatment under police supervision.
The murder had created panic in the area and prompted a large-scale operation across the district. Acting on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), intensive checking and blockade operations were launched across the city and rural limits to track down the suspects.
According to officials, the first accused was intercepted early in the morning in the Ladpur forest area under the Raipur police station limits. During a routine checking operation, the suspect opened fire on the police team in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated in self-defence, injuring him in the leg and taking him into custody. He was later admitted to Coronation Hospital for treatment.
In another operation, a second suspect riding a scooter attempted to flee when signalled to stop at a police checkpoint. He turned back and entered an abandoned factory premises, where he fired at the police team. In the retaliatory action, the police shot him in the right leg and arrested him.
Police recovered two country-made pistols and the scooter used in the crime. During preliminary interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the Tibetan Market shooting.
Officials said further questioning is underway to determine the motive behind the murder and to identify whether any other individuals were involved. Meanwhile, security across the city has been tightened, and police have intensified monitoring to maintain law and order.
