In a major development, cracks have appeared on the Dehradun-Mussoorie Road near the Pani Wala Band stretch, prompting authorities to shut the route for vehicular movement until further orders.
The decision was taken as a precautionary measure after the highway developed visible cracks due to continuous heavy rainfall, raising concerns over the stability of the road. Officials have suspended traffic on the affected stretch to prevent any untoward incidents.
Earlier, traffic had been regulated through a single lane to ensure safe movement. However, after assessing the condition of the damaged road, the administration imposed a complete restriction on vehicular movement until further notice.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the state and advised people to strictly follow weather advisories and instructions issued by the local administration.
