Today, doctors of government and private hospitals in Uttarakhand are on a 24-hour strike. The Indian Medical Association has announced a 24-hour strike in protest against the rape and murder of a female resident doctor in Kolkata. The doctors will be on strike from 6 am on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday. However, emergency, post-mortem and VIP duty will continue as usual during the strike. But OPD and elective surgeries will not be performed. On the other hand, patients had to face a lot of problems due to the strike by doctors and staff of private and government hospitals in Uttarakhand. Only serious patients and women coming for delivery got treatment. Due to the OPD being shut, patients did not get treatment in either government or private hospitals. The patients’ attendants bought medicines from medical stores by telling the symptoms and fed them to the patients.
