The latest GST figures seem to be reassuring for the small state of Uttarakhand. The state’s GST collection is moving towards a new destination with efforts to make tax collection effective along with awakening the tendency to receive bills in every small and big business and transaction.
In the financial year ended March 31, an increase of Rs 3147 crore has been registered in the GST collection in the state. According to Commissioner State Tax Dr. Ahmed Iqbal, in the financial year 2021-22, the state has combined CGST, SGST, IGST and Cess. 13 thousand 698 crore was collected.
At the same time, recently in the last financial year 2022-23, Rs 16 thousand 845 crore was collected. According to Commissioner Dr. Iqbal, continuous monitoring was done from the Finance Minister to the Chief Secretary level to improve taxation.
This also affected the working style of the department. The result of which was that tax collection could be done at a record level in the state. State’s share increased by Rs 1391 crore Talking about State GST alone, we were able to recover Rs 5973 crore in the financial year 2021-22, whereas in 2022-23 this figure increased to Rs 7364 crore.
Similarly, an increase of Rs 2550 crore was recorded in the non-GST i.e. VAT in the recent past year as against Rs 2292 crore. Speed caught in the month of March as well In the last month of the financial year, March 2023, Rs 1523 crore was recovered in Uttarakhand in GST, whereas in the month of March last year this recovery was Rs 1255 crore. In this way, an increase of 21.34 percent was found in this one month. Whereas, the national average for this month was 14.39 percent.
