The picture will be clear in a few hours as to who won the five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand, but if we look at the elections, it was centered around Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP made every effort to capitalize on Prime Minister Modi’s special affection for Devbhoomi and the central schemes received by Uttarakhand during his tenure in the last 10 years, as well as the achievements and decisions of the Center. If we take the main opposition party Congress, it also left no stone unturned in targeting Prime Minister Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s main role
If BJP has remained invincible in Uttarakhand since 2014, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a major role in it. Its foundation was laid when Modi came here after the floods in Kedarnath. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat then. After taking over the reins of the country in 2014, he took rapid steps towards improving Kedarpuri, the place of his idol Baba Kedarnath, in a new form. Today Kedarpuri has blossomed. Not only this, whenever the Prime Minister gets the opportunity, he comes to Uttarakhand. Also, on many occasions, he has been showing his affection towards this central Himalayan state. Not only this, he is also serious about the development of Uttarakhand. Central schemes costing about one and a half lakh crore rupees running in the state are an example of this. Along with this, he is not behind in promoting pilgrimage and tourism in the state as well as branding local products. BJP has been getting the benefit of all this in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The result of this is that in the year 2014 and then in the year 2019, the BJP flag was hoisted on all five Lok Sabha seats in the state. Not only this, in the assembly elections of the year 2017, the BJP got a huge majority, then in the year 2022 it came to power for the second consecutive time. Like these elections, this time the Lok Sabha election was also completely centered around Prime Minister Modi.
Campaign started with Vijay Sankalp Rally
If we look at the election campaign of BJP, it was also started by Prime Minister Modi with Vijay Sankalp Rally in the state. After this, the party tried to woo the public by focusing on the special affection of Prime Minister Modi towards the state and the power of the double engine in the entire campaign. The party presented before the public the Char Dham All Weather Road, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, construction of many roads from Central Road Fund and PMGSY, reconstruction of Kedarnath and Badrinath, Parvatmala Project and other schemes. Not only this, if we look from the opposition’s point of view, then Prime Minister Modi was its main target. Although, it touched some local issues, but the Prime Minister remained at the center of the attack and counter-attack.
