
The district administration has intensified preparations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Regarding this, District Election Officer/District Magistrate Sonika took a meeting of all the nodal officers appointed for the elections. He said that the nodal officers should understand their respective responsibilities well and prepare a checklist accordingly and demand personnel and equipment. When asked for an update regarding the District Magistrate’s personnel, Nodal Officer Personnel/Additional District Magistrate Ramji Sharan Sharma said that the same number of polling parties would be required for 1,880 polling booths. Also, 193 polling parties will be kept in reserve. He said that 10,380 personnel along with reserve personnel would be required for polling parties. Also, 39 zonal magistrates and 223 sector magistrates will be deployed. Apart from this, 10 percent zonal and 10 percent sector magistrates will be kept in reserve. He informed that details of more than nine thousand personnel have been received. However, information has not been received from 17 departments yet. On which, as per the instructions of the District Magistrate, instructions have been issued to register an FIR against the concerned.

The District Magistrate issued instructions that according to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, training should be given to the personnel by making a timetable. Chief Development Officer/Deputy District Election Officer Jharna Kamthan, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Jaibharat Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Bir Singh Budiyal, Assistant Director Information BC Negi etc. were present in the meeting.
