The Chief Minister celebrated Uttarakhand’s folk festival Phuldei with great pomp at the Chief Minister’s residence with his family. In the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, at the Chief Minister’s residence, children dressed in colorful clothes spread flowers and rice in the threshold and sang the traditional song ‘Phool Dei Chama Dei, Jatuk Dela, Utuk Sai, Phool Dei Chama Dei, Dedi Dwar Bhari Bhakar’. Phuldei festival is celebrated every year in the mountain on the Sankranti of Chaitra month. Special enthusiasm for this is seen in children. Enthusiasm is visible among small children regarding this festival. In exchange for placing flowers on the doorstep of the houses, rural Phulwari children are traditionally given kheel and jaggery made from amaranth.
Dolly of Ghogha deity gets decorated
At many places, children also decorate the doli of Ghogha deity (Phuldei) in groups and dance with Basant songs. On the eighth day, children prepare a collective feast by collecting food items and puja items from all the houses. After this, the children consume the food themselves only after worshiping and offering food to the Ghogha deity.
