Not only did Uttarakhand get the gift of Vande Bharat train, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also patted Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the occasion. In his virtual address, Modi profusely praised the government for the law and order situation. The Prime Minister said that the way Uttarakhand is moving ahead on the path of development keeping law and order paramount, it is commendable. It is also important to preserve the identity of Devbhoomi.
This talk of the Prime Minister can be understood in the perspective of the campaigns run during the second term of Chief Minister Dhami. He stamped them through his address. Describing the ongoing development projects in the state as Navratnas, Modi said that in the coming times, Devbhoomi will become the center of spiritual consciousness of the whole world. Now what can be a greater blessing than this for Dhami.
The wait is long, now I understand:
The wait is always long, this is now well understood by the BJP leaders. Looks like patience is being tested. The BJP, which has claimed power for the second time in a row by demolishing the myth, has every chance to thank its workers, but time is running out. When Pushkar Singh Dhami assumed the command of the government for the second time in March last year, since then three positions in the cabinet were vacant, now the fourth position has also become vacant after the death of cabinet minister Chandan Ram Das. Similarly, there is a compulsion of a maximum 12-member cabinet, out of which four, that is, one-third of the seats are vacant. Agreed that the state is small, the cabinet is small, but for how long? Along with this, the distribution of responsibilities among the corporations and commissions has not happened till now, while the list was prepared for this months ago.
Congress’s Dhami Nainital went to contest elections:
Call it doubt about the future of the party in the state or political ambition, another Congress leader has also expressed his intention to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Now Harish Dhami, MLA from Dharchula in Pithoragarh district has submitted a claim to contest from Nainital seat. Earlier, former minister Harak Singh Rawat has expressed his desire to contest from Haridwar. It is a different matter that former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has raised questions on this without naming him, but for the time being Harish Dhami will not face any such problem in Nainital. In the last election, Harish Rawat had come here to fight BJP’s Ajay Bhatt, but could not survive in Namo Magic. Rawat himself is taking interest this time in Haridwar, from where he won the elections in 2009 and became a minister at the Centre. Means the path to Dhami is clear.
Confusion over UCC, hence boycotted:
The Dhami government is making rapid strides towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code, ie UCC, in the state, but it has become a bone of contention for the Congress. In the assembly elections last year, the BJP trapped the Congress in the cycle of Muslim University in such a way that till date the party leaders are roaming around giving clarifications. The situation is such that the Congress is unable to express its stand openly. Recently, a committee constituted in Dehradun to draft the UCC invited political parties to present their views. Confusion in front of Congress, but State President Karan Mahara found a way out. Boycott the meeting saying that the government did not provide the draft itself, so how can we say anything about it. However, senior party leader and former minister Navprabhat was vocal on this. Said, if this will increase social harmony, then the party will welcome it.
