The grant amount received by farmers in various schemes in Uttarakhand will now be paid through e-Rupi system. Under this, the grant amount will be sent directly to the mobile of the farmers through e-voucher (SMS or QR code). They will be able to use it to buy fertilizers, seeds, medicines etc. from authorized centers or vendors. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched four new agricultural policies (Kiwi, Dragon Fruit, Apple Post-Harvest Management and Millet Mission) along with the e-Rupi system for farmers in a program organized at Mukhya Sevak Sadan on Saturday. He also announced that policies will also be made soon to increase floriculture and honey production in the state.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the e-Rupi system is a new initiative for farmers. It will become a new medium of transparent, fast and middleman-free digital payment. In view of the successful implementation of this system, he directed the officials to organize training programs in every village and make the farmers aware, so that they can take proper advantage of this system. While launching four new agricultural policies, he said that these will become the basis for increasing the income of farmers along with promoting agricultural diversity of the state.
He said that the objective of such initiatives is to strengthen agriculture and employment in the hilly and plain areas, so that effective control can be found on the problem of migration. All these schemes will prove to be a milestone in the direction of making Uttarakhand a self-reliant, strong and leading agricultural state. Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that to promote apple production in the state, the target is to do very intensive horticulture in five thousand hectares by the year 2030-31. A scheme of Rs 144.55 crore has been launched for apple storage and grading, in which 50 to 70 percent subsidy will be given for the establishment of CA stores, sorting-grading units. Referring to the millet policy of Rs 134.893 crore, he said that under this, the target is to cover 70 thousand hectares of area by the year 2030-31. He also shed light on Kiwi policy, Dragon Fruit policy, Apple post-harvest management plan.
Flower and honey production will increase the income of farmers
Flower cultivation was being done in 1600 hectares in Uttarakhand before the Corona period, but after that its scope kept shrinking. Currently, flowers are being cultivated in only 650 to 800 hectares of area. Now the formation of flower policy will promote flower production. Apart from this, if we talk about honey production, 1850 metric tonnes of honey is currently being produced in the state. Madhu Grams have also been created in every district. Honey production will also improve the economy of farmers when the Honey policy is ready.
This is e-Rupi
E-Rupi is a voucher based digital payment system. This voucher is sent to the beneficiaries through QR code or SMS on mobile phone. After this, the concerned farmers can go to the authorized firm or establishment and buy the material through it. There is no requirement of a bank account for this.
