Good yielding and quality seedlings should be made available to the farmers – Minister Joshi

Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi on Monday inquired about the progress of the guidelines given in the meeting held a week ago with the officers of the Horticulture Department at the FRDC auditorium located in the secretariat. In the meeting, Minister Joshi took information from the departmental officials about the guidelines given in the last review meeting. It was informed by the officials that the demand for fruits and vegetable plants has increased to 7,47,341 in the winter season. Similarly, the demand for vegetable plants has come to 257.61 lakh. Similarly, 4,15,905 demand for apple sapling has come in fruits. Instructing the officials to pay special attention to apples, Minister Joshi instructed the officials to increase the plantation by personally talking to district-wise DHOs.
Minister Joshi said that quality variety plants should be made available to the farmers, he said that today instead of M-9 variety of apple, farmers are going towards root stock variety, regarding which Minister Joshi said that it will benefit the farmers. Yes, that good variety of plants should be made available to the farmers. Minister Joshi instructed to convert M-9 into rootstock and provide quality and good yielding plants to the farmers. Minister Joshi said that along with encouraging the farmers, a training program is also going to be started soon, in which talks are being held with Jeet Chauhan of Himachal Pradesh. So that he can give training to the farmers.
Roof gardening was also discussed in the meeting, in which the Horticulture Department will celebrate Roof Gardening Week from 25 December to 02 January 2023 to encourage roof gardening. Minister Joshi said that during February Basantotsav, a competition will be held with flowers as well as products grown in roof gardening. In which the winner will be given a prize for the promotion of roof gardening.
In the meeting, Minister Joshi also instructed the officials to prepare an action plan in a week regarding the Center for Excellence. Along with this, Minister Joshi also instructed the officers to make a concrete action plan for the nursery. lamps. Minister Joshi said that our resolve is to double the income of the farmers by 2025, the state government is making continuous efforts in this direction.
