Along with the development of Chardham in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, development of important areas and temple sites from the point of view of religious tourism is included in the priorities of the state government, the central government is also encouraging the development of these places. Along with Garhwal, such places have also been identified in Kumaon division. In view of the influx of lakhs of devotees from India and abroad every year, it has been decided to develop the Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor. Additional assistance is being expected for the state in the Union Budget for the development of these places related to faith.
Uttarakhand is getting decorated with ambitious projects of the Center
The ambitious projects of the Modi government at the Center are writing a new story of infrastructure development in Uttarakhand. Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Line, Chardham All Weather Road, Bharatmala projects are very important from economic, social development as well as strategic point of view. A lot of work has been done on these so far. The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway scheme is awaited for completion. To ensure that these schemes are completed within the stipulated period, Uttarakhand is expecting financial provisions in the new budget of the Centre.
Uttarakhand’s expectations from the budget
Apart from this, funds are also possible in the new budget for other infrastructural development projects of the Center and the State. Due to the power of double engine, the Central Government has given funds to the state for many big projects. The Center has provided financial assistance for the schemes of expansion of new roads, tunnels and ropeways in border areas.
CM Dhami has met important leaders
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had met several central leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi before the new budget of the Central Government. Describing the development of other religious tourist places in the state as important from the economic and employment point of view of the state, he also requested the Center to provide assistance in addition to Char Dham.
Government working on Manaskhand Mala Temple Mission
Especially in Kumaon division, the state government is working on the ambitious plan of Manaskhand Mala Mandir Mission. The responsibility of developing the Ganga area of Haridwar and Rishikesh as a corridor has recently been entrusted to the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board by the state government. It is expected that provision can be made in the budget to materialize these projects with the help of the Centre.
Financial assistance was received in the last general budget
Modi government had also made a provision of Rs 10 lakh crore for capital items in its last general budget. The benefit of more funds in capital items was also visible in the infrastructure development of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is largely dependent on centrally funded schemes for infrastructural development due to limited financial resources. Due to the special status, Himalayan states get more grants from the Center in centrally funded schemes. The more funds the Center provides for these schemes, the state is sure to benefit from it.
