There is still time for the Lok Sabha elections, but former Chief Minister Harish Rawat and former leader of the opposition Pritam Singh have again come face to face regarding contesting or not. On Pritam’s announcement of not contesting the Lok Sabha elections, Harish Rawat hinted that the party decides who should do what. No leader has the right to create confusion among party workers. Retorting, Pritam said, the people of the state know who followed the instructions of the high command and how much. Everyone should look into their own backyard.
The tussle between the heavyweights within the Congress is not taking its name. At the center of the tussle is the politics of the Lok Sabha elections to be held after almost a year. Contenders are coming forward to contest elections on various Lok Sabha seats in the state. In such a situation, Pritam Singh, former Leader of Opposition and MLA from Chakrata Assembly seat for the sixth time, has refused to contest from Tehri Lok Sabha seat.
This attitude of Pritam is exasperating former Chief Minister Harish Rawat. Talking to the media, he said in gestures that the party decides who has to do what. He also indirectly linked Pritam’s attitude to the morale of the workers. He said that the morale of the workers should not drop.
Former Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh also reacted sharply to Harish Rawat’s remarks. He said that Harish Rawat is a big leader. He is a petty worker of the party but never disobeyed the orders of the party leadership. Everyone should look into their own backyard as to who did what.
