Most of the areas of the state including Dehradun are cloudy and at some places moderate to intense showers are continuing. After the clouds remained overcast throughout the day in Doon, heavy rain occurred in the evening. Due to which the squares and intersections got submerged.
Possibility of lightning and intense rain
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather of the state may remain the same even today. Heavy rain with thunder and lightning may occur in Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar, Pauri. There is also a possibility of lightning with thunder and intense rain in other districts. Clouds remained in Doon since Wednesday morning, although there was no rain in the city. Moderate showers occurred in Maldevta and Sahasradhara area. After this, after around 5 pm, a period of heavy rain started in most areas of the city. Due to heavy rain for about an hour and a quarter, rivers and streams overflowed and the city’s squares and intersections were flooded. Especially on Prince Chowk and Gandhi Road, heavy rainwater kept flowing on the roads. At many places, due to overflowing of drains, dirty water also kept flowing on the road and pedestrians and two-wheeler riders had to face a lot of problems. However, after the rain stopped, the water drained out from the roads.
