Chief Minister held a virtual meeting with Kumaon Commissioner
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with Garhwal Commissioner and Kumaon Commissioner connected through virtual medium at the camp office and inquired about the situation at various places in the state after heavy rains. Instructed the officials that the district and tehsil administration should be kept on alert 24 hours a day for relief and rescue work in case of disaster. In case of waterlogging, proper arrangements should be made for the stay and food of the disaster affected. Constant contact should also be maintained with the control room established at the tehsil level and in case of closure of roads, arrangements should be made to open them immediately. Officials were directed to take the decision to open and close schools based on the weather department’s warning and local weather-related activities. Rain continues to wreak havoc on Saturday as well. Rishikesh and rural areas from the city received rain for several hours. People are facing problems due to waterlogging at many places. On the other hand, farmers in Bhattowala, Shyampur and other rural areas are getting relief from rain in paddy plantation.
Highway closed in Champawat, 150 vehicles stranded
On the other hand, Champawat-Tanakpur highway is closed due to debris near Swala in Champawat. More than 150 vehicles are stranded due to the closure of NH. The administration is distributing relief material to them.
Drains overflowing in Chamoli
Drains on the Badrinath highway are overflowing, due to which the road is closed and the journey is disrupted. The rain that occurred throughout Friday night in Chamoli district continued on Saturday morning as well. Badrinath highway is closed in Bhanerpani, Chhinka, Pipalkoti, Pagalnala, Pinola and Kanchen Ganga. Hundreds of passengers are waiting for the highway to open.
Alaknanda river close to danger mark
Due to heavy rains in Joshimath Badrinath, the water level of Alaknanda river has reached close to the danger mark. The water level in Vishnu Prayag has reached quite high. At the same time, the water level of Bhagirathi has also increased considerably. Two people have been buried under debris falling on a motorcycle from the mountain at Chatwa Pipal on Badrinath highway, who are being pulled out with the help of JCB. A total of 21 motor roads are blocked in Rudraprayag district. Movement on National Highway Badrinath highway is smooth. Gaurikund highway is blocked at Kakra Gad. Karnaprayag-Gairsain motor road is open for traffic. Mandal Chopta motor road is open for traffic. Joshimath Malari motor road is open for traffic. Karnaprayag Gwaldam motor road is open for traffic.
Yamunotri Gangotri Highway is running smoothly
The Gangotri National Highway was blocked near Helgugad in Uttarkashi, which was later made operational. The road was blocked near Dabarkot on the Yamunotri National Highway. It has also been opened for traffic.
Debris on Mussoorie Chakrata Road
On Saturday, Mussoorie Chakrata Road was closed due to a land slide in Gashti Band, four km from Yamuna Bridge, before Osho Ashram. It has been opened. Aglar Thatyur Road is closed near Gad Village. Najibabad-Buakhal Highway is closed between Kotdwar Dugadda

Due to the rise in the Malan river, the Belgiri Ashram – Haldukhata alternative route connecting Kotdwar city to the Bhabar area has been washed away in the river. Due to heavy rain in Kotdwar, the administration has stopped the movement of vehicles on the national highway. Earlier, the national highway was closed due to rain last night, which was opened for traffic at around 8.45 am. On the other hand, Silogi – Dwarikhal, Kotdwar – Ramdi roads have been closed due to debris. Light drizzle has been continuing in Roorkee and surrounding areas since morning.
