According to the Director of Meteorological Center, Bikram Singh, the weather in Doon will remain dry as well as partial clouds may hover. There is a possibility of fog and mist in the morning and frost at night. Bageshwar and Pithoragarh may receive light rainfall. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to fall slightly across the state.

Doon’s climate started deteriorating even before Diwali

Continuous monitoring is being done
24-hour third party monitoring of AQI is being done by Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board in 13 cities including Doon. As the weather gets colder, the air quality is affected every year in most of the plain areas including Doon. Due to increased haze, PM 2.5 and PM 10 particles float in the atmosphere during the day. Due to which the air quality often becomes worrisome.

Pollution Control Board has been checking the air quality daily in Ghantaghar, Nehru Colony and Doon University area in Doon since October 24. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Ghantaghar area remains more than 100, which is harmful for respiratory patients. At the same time, there is a possibility of increase in AQI in the next few days. Due to which respiratory problems may occur.
Readings of 13 cities are being taken
Readings of 13 cities are being taken one week before and one week after Diwali. Pollution Control Board Member Secretary IFS Parag Madhukar Dhakate said that efforts are being made to control pollution by sprinkling water through bodies in the city, public awareness campaign through e-rickshaws, organizing awareness programs through internet media.
