
Haridwar and Rishikesh, the religious and spiritual cities of Uttarakhand, will now be developed in an integrated manner like Ayodhya. Along with the religious place areas, the infrastructure in these cities will also be well organized. Pushkar Singh Dhami Cabinet decided to cancel the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed earlier for the Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor and now hand over this work to Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB).
In another important decision, Goulapar and surrounding areas of Haldwani have been declared a freeze zone for development in a planned manner. Along with this, construction work has been banned in these areas until the master plan is implemented.

In the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday at the Secretariat, important decisions were taken regarding giving a beautiful appearance to the cities of Haridwar, Rishikesh and Haldwani. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu informed about the decisions of the Cabinet. He said that the Haridwar-Rishikesh Ganga Corridor project will be developed like Ayodhya. In the board meeting of UIIDB held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on January 9, it was decided to conduct the work related to this project through the board. The Cabinet has given its approval to this decision. Besides, the cancellation of the SPV formed for the project under the Housing Department was approved. Haridwar Rishikesh Redevelopment Company Limited was formed as SPV under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan.
What is included in the redevelopment project area?
The redevelopment project area in Haridwar includes areas from Devipura to Bhupatwala (Duddhadhari Chowk), one and a half kilometer radius area from Harki Paidi, Kankhal area (Daksh Mandir and Sanyas Road), Bhupatwala to Saptarishi Ashram (Bharat Mata Mandir area). The entire area of Tapovan in Rishikesh, core area near the railway station, areas near ISBT and Triveni Ghat have been taken up. The Cabinet has authorized Chief Minister Dhami to decide the dates of the Assembly session. The Cabinet has given in-principle approval to remove the civil areas of seven out of nine cantonment councils of the state and merge them with the nearby municipal bodies.
