Under the Mera Gaon Meri Sadak scheme, all the villages without road connectivity in Dehradun, Haridwar, Uttarkashi and Almora districts will now be able to connect to the main road. Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi has approved the proposals for 24 new roads for these villages. Earlier in the current financial year, 37 roads have been approved under this scheme. Last year, 49 roads were approved in the scheme. Rural Development Minister Joshi said that the government is making continuous efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to connect the unconnected villages outside the ambit of the Public Works Department and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana by road. He said that by building roads up to the main roads of all the villages, local residents will be able to get better transportation facilities in every season.
Under the Mera Gaon Meri Sadak scheme, roads are built for villages located at a distance of one kilometer. He said that the construction of these roads will facilitate local villagers to bring their produce to the market, which will increase the income of farmers. Besides this, employment opportunities will also be created.
