In the capital Dehradun, a case of breaking into the database of land registries has also come to the fore. Even the acreage and ownership of the lands were changed by tampering with the database. After getting information about this, there is a stir among the officials. Inspector General Registration (IG Stamp) Dr. Ahmed Iqbal and District Magistrate (DM) Dehradun Sonika inspected the registry offices including the stamp headquarters and tried to find out the situation.
The District Magistrate himself is handling the investigation of the case. The Dehradun District Magistrate had received some such complaints, in which various persons alleged that the ancestral land was running in their name, while some others were claiming the concerned land as their own. Such persons also have a registry. In the recent days, even in the public hearing, a woman had also complained to the District Magistrate about getting her land registered.
Apprehension of nexus between registry personnel and land mafia:
In the preliminary investigation, no evidence of registration was found, but arbitrary changes were made in the database. The acreage and ownership of land from Golden Forest to other lands have been changed in the registry/stamp database. Officials are also expressing their apprehension that this forgery could be more than expected. In this, the apprehension of connivance of the employees of the land mafia and the registry office is being expressed.
DM inspected registry and stamp offices:
After the tampering in the registry’s database came to the fore, I checked the record room of the registry office as well as the record room of the revenue department. The situation of forgery will be clarified after a thorough investigation of the case. All possible precautionary measures are being taken to protect citizens from fraud. Sonika, District Magistrate, Dehradun
DM took command of the investigation in his hands:
Taking the tampering in the database seriously, District Magistrate Sonika herself has taken charge of the investigation. On the other hand, looking at the seriousness of the episode, IG Stamp Dr. Ahmed Iqbal along with the District Magistrate reached the stamp headquarters and checked the online system. During this, the IG tightened the screws of the personnel and warned that strict action would be taken if the personnel were found involved in this work.
