While the passion for cricket runs high among the people of Doon, when the match involves girls, the excitement reaches new heights. Everyone was eagerly awaiting the high-voltage Women’s Cricket World Cup clash between India and South Africa on Sunday.
As the match began Sunday afternoon, everyone, from homes to markets to private offices, sat glued to their television sets wherever they could. As soon as the Indian girls lifted the World Cup trophy late at night, a celebratory atmosphere prevailed in Doon. Fireworks filled the sky and street celebrations were seen from the city’s clock tower to several areas. On Sunday, everyone, from children to the elderly and women, was seen enjoying the match. After defeating Australia in the semi-finals of the Women’s Cricket World Cup and reaching the final, everyone was convinced that Team India would surely defeat South Africa. This is exactly what happened, and late at night, when the “Harman Sena” defeated South Africa, people began dancing in joy on the streets. Celebrating at the clock tower, the clock tower was overflowing with people. A large police force had to be deployed to prevent any disruption. Police were also on high alert because President Draupadi Murmu was visiting the city. Therefore, extra caution was exercised in anticipation of the possibility of crowds taking to the streets.

Everyone Enjoyed the Match
On Sunday, the excitement of the Indian fans at the packed DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai was clearly visible on TV, and the enthusiasm of the people of Doon was no less. Everyone was enjoying the Indian team’s batting, but late at night, the excitement of the match reached its peak. When the South African team began batting, the expressions on the faces of cricket fans changed ball by ball. The match seemed stuck for a while, but at 12 o’clock midnight, the moment finally arrived when South Africa was defeated by the Indian women, and with this, the hearts of the people of Doon swelled with pride.

Fireworks began with victory
As soon as India completed the formalities of victory, fireworks began in the city. Rockets and fancy firecrackers were seen in the sky for about half an hour. People were also seen carrying the tricolor at many places, including Ghantaghar and Rajpur Road. An atmosphere of patriotism was visible everywhere.

Lost in mind for work
The excitement of the match was so strong that even those on duty in private offices and firms, despite it being a Sunday, were unable to concentrate on their work. People kept checking the match updates even during work. Where offices had televisions, employees left their work and kept their eyes glued to the TV.
