There is a sequence of intense showers in Dehradun. The city is receiving one to two rounds of heavy rain daily.
Since the arrival of monsoon, more than normal rainfall is being recorded in most areas of Doon. According to the Meteorological Department, even today an alert has been issued regarding heavy rains in some areas of Doon.
CM will take feedback after reaching Disaster Operation Center:
It is raining continuously in many districts of the state. In this sequence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh will reach the Disaster Operation Center at Dhami Secretariat at 11 am and take feedback from the high officials about the heavy rains in the state.
Alert of rising water level of Ganga:
An alert has been issued by the Central Water Commission for increase in the water level of Ganga in Haridwar, Rishikesh and plains after Tuesday afternoon. In Rishikesh, however, the Ganga is flowing well below the alert seen. According to the commission, the water level of Alaknanda is increasing. Due to which the water level in the plains will increase. According to the Central Water Commission, the discharge of Alaknanda river at Rudraprayag Sangam has touched the figure of 2900. Information has been provided by the Commission for taking necessary action in downstream areas of Srinagar Dam.
In view of the possibility of increasing the water level of the Ganga, the police administration has made an announcement.
Rain continues in Mussoorie for more than eight hours:
Rain continued in Dehradun from Monday night till Tuesday morning. It has been raining in Mussoorie for more than eight hours. Here the rain drains are in spate. People are scared of rain.
It is raining heavily in Agalad and Yamuna valley adjacent to Mussoorie. Yamuna and Aglad rivers are in spate. Mussoorie-Dhanaulti road closed due to landslide under Woodstock School.
Gangotri-Yamunotri Highway closed:
Gangotri and Yamunotri National Highway is blocked due to landslide. The Gangotri National Highway has become smooth near Maneri. But the highway is still blocked near Sainj, Naluna and Helgu Gad. It is raining in the surrounding areas including Uttarkashi district headquarters.
A tempo was hit by a landslide near Maneri on the Gangotri National Highway. Thankfully, the tempo driver somehow escaped and saved his life. The National Highway has been blocked at the concerned place. Apart from this, the Gangotri National Highway is blocked at many places.
The Yamunotri National Highway remained blocked near Jhanjhargad for about three hours on Tuesday. The team of National Highway Authority Barkot section has made the highway smooth.
In Tehri, 18 link roads including the Yamunotri Highway are closed due to debris coming in. The Yamunotri Highway has been closed at Naingaon in Jaunpur block. Machines have been deployed to open the road.
Gaurikund Highway blocked:
Rain continues in Rudraprayag. Gaurikund Highway is blocked at Tarsali and Phata. Right now the traffic on Badrinath Highway is smooth. 21 motorways are blocked in the district and 40 villages have been cut off.
A restaurant at Kumdi, ahead of Phata on the Gaurikund Highway in Rudraprayag, was hit by a landslide. There are reports of injuries to two youths. Both have been admitted to the hospital.
Badrinath Highway opened in Chhinka, smooth travel
The Badrinath highway was blocked due to continuous heavy rains in Chamoli district. The highway was blocked by landslides at Nandprayag and Chhinka, which was later cleared. Around 1000 passengers were waiting for the highway to open.
The cowshed has been damaged by a landslide in Kevar village of Narayanbagad. Many animals are buried under the debris here. The river Moksha is in spate at Bera in Ghat. Due to this the houses are at risk. Three houses have been evacuated here.
Orange alert issued
According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, clouds are expected to prevail in most areas of the state even today. Orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Pauri.
There may be showers with thunder and lightning in other districts as well. Apart from this, the weather is expected to soften slightly after Wednesday. Light rain may occur in most areas of the state for the next five days.
Lipulekh road leading to China border opened on 16th day:
After the weather remained normal for the last two days, the process of opening of closed routes has started. The Tawaghat-Lipulekh road leading to China border which was closed for sixteen days has been opened for traffic. At present the road near Pelasiti is open only for small vehicles.
Half a dozen of the fourteen motor routes of the district have been opened for traffic. Currently eight rural roads are closed. The Tawaghat-Lipulekh road was closed 16 days ago due to landslides at several places. In view of the condition of the route, the Adi Kailas Yatra has been postponed till September.
The situation is still not very good near Pelasiti on Lipulekh road. The road was washed away by the Kali river at this place. Right now the route is open only for small vehicles.
For the last two days, the period of rain has stopped in the frontier. At the same time, the Darma road connecting the China border, which was closed since morning, has also been opened for traffic. Traffic has also become normal between Baluvakot and Dharchula on the Tanakpur-Tawaghat highway.
