Large number of cases registered for land law violation, government confiscated land in six cases

admin January 10, 2025

The effect of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s strictness on land law violation in the state is starting to show. By the first fortnight of last December, 279 cases of land law were caught. Out of these, cases have been registered on 243. The special thing is that in a period of three months, more than three hectares of land has been vested in the government in a total of six cases in Bageshwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Almora. This action is still going on in various districts.
CM Dhami had given instructions for strict action
After receiving complaints of violation of land law in the state, Chief Minister Dhami had given instructions for strict action in the month of September last. Irregularities were also found in the purchase of 250 square meters of land without permission in municipal areas, purchase of more than 12.5 acres of land with permission, purchase of land for agricultural, commercial and industrial use. After this, the government asked all the District Magistrates to send a detailed report on such cases and take action against the rigging in the purchase and sale of land. The District Magistrates sent the report to the government through the Revenue Council. It came to light that notices were sent in more than 550 cases of violation of land law. As per the report received from the districts till December 11, 2024 regarding violation of permission for land purchase under Section 154 (4) (3) of the Zamindari Destruction and Land Reforms Act, permission was given in 1495 cases of land purchase in all 13 districts. Of these, 279 violated the land law. Revenue suit has been registered on 243 of these. Land laws were ignored in three cases in Chamoli district, five in Bageshwar, eight in Uttarkashi, six in Tehri, 14 in Pauri, 37 in Udham Singh Nagar, 24 in Almora, 79 in Nainital, 25 in Haridwar and 78 in Dehradun. Cases were registered in only five cases in Pauri, eight in Almora, 22 in Haridwar and 70 in Dehradun. Cases could not be registered in all the cases of violation in these districts.

On the other hand, land has been vested in the government in three cases in Almora and one case each in Bageshwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital. This land is 3.006 hectares. At present, proceedings are going on at the district level. With the settlement of revenue disputes, land can be vested in the government on a large scale.
