‘Make pothole free by 30th November’, CM Dhami’s ultimatum regarding poor roads

admin November 22, 2023

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in the meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD), directed the officials to make the roads completely pothole free by November 30. Also, Secretary PWD and other circle level officers should conduct on-site inspection of the roads. He said that in case the roads are not pothole free within the stipulated time and for negligence in work, suspension action should be taken on the spot against the concerned officers. The Chief Minister said that he can conduct surprise inspection of road construction works and patch work related works at any time. In the meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister instructed the officials that the works of smart city and internal roads in Dehradun should also be done on war footing. Road construction work in the city should be done rapidly during night time.

Nodal officers should be made
CM Dhami said that to ensure quality in construction, Secretary PWD should be made the nodal officer. It should be ensured that wherever construction work is in progress, barricading is installed properly and care should be taken that unnecessary problems are not faced in traffic. The Chief Minister also gave instructions to make good arrangements for dividers, reflectors and signage lighting on the roads. The Chief Minister said that in view of two big events like Global Investors Conference and Sixth International Congress on Disaster Management in Dehradun, all preparations should be completed on time.
Electrical wires should not keep dangling on the roads.
The Chief Minister directed PWD officials to use white topping technique in areas with high flow. Whatever plans are being made related to roads, they should be made keeping in mind the circumstances of the next 50 years. It should also be ensured that there are no electrical wires dangling on the roads. During widening of roads, electric poles should be shifted out of the roads. No one should be allowed to encroach on the roads. Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Dehradun Manuj Goyal and officials of PWD were present in the meeting.
