
Energy Corporation will now organize mega camps twice a month in every sub-division to improve consumer facilities and services. In which problems ranging from providing electricity connections to bill correction, metering etc. will be resolved immediately. The date of the camp will be informed through advertisement in newspapers.
Camps will be organized twice every month in the subdivision:
Energy Corporation’s Managing Director Anil Kumar said that under the inspiration of the Chief Minister, it has been decided to organize mega-camps at subdivision level to ensure better consumer service under simplification, solution and disposal. Camps will be organized in the subdivision at least twice every month. In which domestic and non-domestic connections up to 25 KW (where electric lines are not to be constructed) will be issued immediately.
The work of new electricity connections in the camps, solving problems related to metering, billing and replacement of defective meters etc. will also be done immediately. Information will be provided to the consumers in the camp for any kind of information or solution related to electricity.
Revenue recovery will also be ensured by correcting erroneous bills immediately. To promote digitization, the use of UPCL’s official consumer self-service app will be promoted for issuing new electricity connections.
The exercise to install smart meters intensified:
The exercise has intensified on the plan of the Energy Corporation to install 16 lakh smart prepaid meters in the state. It is being claimed to start the work within the next one to one and a half months. According to Anil Kumar, Managing Director of Energy Corporation, the rate of smart meter tenders in other states is being studied. Soon the works will be allotted after completing the tender process.
It is expected that smart meter billing will start in this financial year. Energy Corporation will save about Rs 75 crore in reading and electricity theft will be curbed. Apart from this, the guideline of setting the rate of electricity separately in day and night by the Central Government can also be followed.
Electricity Regulatory Commission is also talking about fixing the rate of electricity per unit separately for day and night in the upcoming annual tariff. According to the new guideline, the rate will be kept low during the day and the rate will be high during peak hours at night.
