The recruitment process for 330 posts of women home guards is expected to start soon in the state. The ongoing confusion regarding the conduct of written examination regarding recruitment has been removed to a great extent.
It has been decided at the government level that now there will be no written examination for recruitment. Their recruitment will be on the basis of physical test and educational qualification. Soon the guidelines will be issued by the government in this regard.
Home guards assisting in police work:
At present, about 6500 home guards are assisting in the work of police along with various government offices in the state. These include both male and female home guards. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had announced the recruitment of women home guards at the Raetic Parade held in December.
In this sequence, the government issued an order to recruit one woman platoon of women home guards in Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pauri, Uttarkashi and Tehri districts.
At present, 239 posts of women home guards are sanctioned in the Home Guard Department, out of which 215 women home guards are deployed. These women home guards are serving in Dehradun, Haridwar and Nainital districts. In such a situation, there was talk of starting the recruitment process in the remaining districts.
Earlier also there was no system of written examination:
For this, the government first asked the Home Guard Headquarters to conduct the examination. It was said that the question paper will also be prepared by the headquarter. The headquarters pulled back from this saying that the task of setting the question paper for the written examination is done by the expert agency.
At the same time, earlier also there was no system of written examination for the Home Guard. There was again a churn in the government on this. After this, it was decided that instead of written examination, women home guards would be recruited on the basis of educational qualification.
Commander-in-Chief and Director Home Guard Kewal Khurana said that the recruitment process will be started as soon as the guidelines of the government are received.
