In Uttarakhand, which is facing wildlife attacks, the compensation amount has been increased in cases of damage to humans, animals, buildings and crops. On Friday, Principal Secretary Forest Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu issued a notification to amend the Human-Wildlife Conflict Relief Distribution Fund Rules. Now, in case of death due to attack by wild animals, a compensation amount of Rs 6 lakh will be given to the next of kin. Similarly, the amount has been increased in other cases of damage including injuries. In the recently held review meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had given instructions to soon issue a notification regarding increase in the compensation amount given in cases of damage caused by wildlife. In this sequence, according to the notification issued on Friday, compensation amount will be made available within 15 days of the incident occurring.
In cases of death, till now an amount of Rs 4 lakh was given to the relatives from the Disaster Response Fund, which has now been increased to Rs 6 lakh. In this, two lakh rupees will be made available from the Human Wildlife Conflict Relief Distribution Fund. It has also been said that even if the Central Government increases the compensation amount, an additional amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given from this fund. The same will be done in other cases of damage also.

Compensation will be given for damage caused by these wildlife
Tiger, leopard, snow leopard, wild elephant, all three types of bears, hyena, wild boar, crocodile, crocodile, snake, bee, wasp, langur and monkey.
Compensation for damage to buildings caused by elephants and bears
According to the notification, compensation amount will also be given in case of damage to buildings by wild elephants and bears. Earlier there was no provision for this.
There will be no benefit on treatment in Ayushman
Persons injured in wildlife attacks will not be eligible for compensation if they are treated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This provision has been made in the notification.
