People took to the streets demanding ‘Uttarakhand demands original residence’, expressed their anger by dancing to the tricolour and dhol-damoun in their hands.

admin September 30, 2024

Thousands of people participated in the Mool Niwas Swabhiman Maharally organised in the pilgrimage town of Rishikesh demanding original residence and strict land laws. Slogans like ‘Uttarakhand demands strict land laws’, ‘Humein chahiye original residence’, ‘Bol Pahadi Halla Bol’ reverberated on the streets. Women, youth, elderly and people from all sections of society participated enthusiastically in the rally. At some places, people expressed their protest in a different way by dancing to the melodious tunes of dhol-damoun and holding the tricolour in their hands.

Mool Niwas Swabhiman Maharally

On Sunday, Mool Niwas Swabhiman Maharally started from IDPL ground at 10:30 am on the call of Mool Niwas-Bhoo Kanoon Samanvay Sangharsh Samiti, which reached Triveni Ghat via IDPL main gate-Rishikesh road-Triveni Ghat Chowk. In the public meeting organized here, Sangharsh Samiti convenor Mohit Dimri said that today in Uttarakhand, the natives are not being given priority in employment and resources. Whereas, in Himachal Pradesh, which has similar geographical conditions, the state government has made strict land laws for the rights of the state residents, but in Uttarakhand, outsiders have been allowed to settle. He said that due to the arrival of outsiders, crime has started increasing rapidly in the state for the last several years. The Uttarakhand government should make the cut off date for Mool Niwas 1950, only then the rights of the natives will be protected. Committee general secretary Pranjal Nautiyal said that the natives are not getting priority in government recruitments. Even in Group C recruitment, outsiders are getting jobs. It seems that the government does not intend to give strict land laws. He said that now the people of Uttarakhand have understood the importance of native place, now they will get strict land laws and the right to native place.

Naveen Chandra Ramola, Chairman of the Joint Rotation System Committee, said that native place and strict land laws are legitimate demands. Voters in all 70 assemblies of the state should put pressure on their MLAs to openly support this issue, otherwise the public will answer them.

Elderly people and women booked e-rickshaws

Elderly people and women who were unable to walk in the rally booked e-rickshaws and kept riding on them throughout the rally. 70-year-old Meena Devi said that this is necessary to secure the future of the young generation. The rights of the natives should be protected. That is why she has come to the rally. Similarly, many women were also seen riding e-rickshaws.

These people were present in the Maharally
Metropolitan Congress President Rakesh Singh Advocate (Rishikesh), District President Uttam Singh Aswal (Devprayag), Himanshu Bijalwan, INTUC State President Abhishek Bhatt, Shyampur Pradhan Vijaypal Jethuri, former Block Panchayat member Pawan Pandey, Block Panchayat member Prabhakar Painuli (Shyampur), Garhwal Mahasabha State President Sita Payal, Joint Rotation Committee President Naveen Chandra Ramola, Sudhir Rai, Madan Kothari, Sunil Uniyal, Brijesh Uniyal, Kamal Nayan Joshi, Rajesh Nautiyal, Devendra, Saurabh Ranakoti, Ashutosh Sharma, National President of Nationalist Regional Party Shiv Prasad Semwal and many others were present.
