The cabinet has approved the draft of the new Act for the Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD) jawans. In this, arrangement has been made to give leave to PRD personnel and maternity leave to women PRD personnel. Not only this, the PRD personnel involved in maintaining peace in Yatra, fair and Kawand etc. with the police will get the same benefits in case of accident or death, which are received by the police personnel. Along with this, the age of recruitment of PRD personnel is now being increased from 18 to 42 years and the retirement age is 60 years. Earlier this age was 50 years.
Cabinet approves draft of PRD Act:
In the cabinet held on Wednesday, an important subject related to the PRD Act of the Youth Welfare Department was approved. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya told that till now the PRD Act 1948 was applicable in Uttarakhand. Now the government is going to enact its own PRD Act of Uttarakhand, in which facilities for PRD personnel have been increased considerably.
He said that arrangements have been made in this Act that PRD personnel will now be accommodated in technical, class IV and other departments as per the requirement, not only in security. He said that till now there was no provision for leave for the PRD personnel. Now, keeping in mind the human aspect, arrangements have been made to provide leave and maternity leave.
He thanked Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for approving the proposal for amendment in the PRD Act. He said that this would be of great help to the PRD jawans.
