
After the completion of voting for Lok Sabha Elections-2024, preparations for counting of votes have now been started. A team of gazetted officers and other employees is being formed for counting of votes. Counting of votes will take place on June 4 at Maharana Pratap Sports College in Raipur amidst a three-tier security cordon. Seven tables will be set up in different halls for counting of votes. First the postal ballot and then the EVM vote will be counted. Voting for Tehri and Haridwar Lok Sabha seats in Dehradun district was completed on April 19. Of these, seven assembly constituencies are under Tehri Lok Sabha seat and three assembly constituencies are under Haridwar Lok Sabha seat. There are 12 candidates in the fray from Tehri seat and 11 candidates from Haridwar seat. There are 15,56,910 voters in the district but 8,68,254 voters exercised their franchise in the elections. Two strong rooms have been made in the Sports College campus. In which EVMs of six assembly constituencies are kept in the first strong room and EVMs of four assembly constituencies are kept in the second. Both the strong rooms will be opened in the presence of officials and candidates. After this, counting of votes will start on the tables installed in both the halls. Complete recording of the vote counting process will be done. During this period, except the observers and returning officers, no one will be allowed to take mobile phones into the counting room. Apart from this, no other person will be able to carry other electronic devices like iPad, recorder, video, camera etc.
DM inspected the strong room
DM/District Election Officer Sonika conducted routine inspection of the strong room built in Maharana Pratap Sports College on Monday. Amidst videography, he reviewed the security arrangements and gave necessary instructions to the subordinates. He said that constant monitoring is being done from the control room. Apart from this, all the officers are inspecting as per their respective duties.
