Both expansion and reshuffle in Pushkar Singh Dhami cabinet are going to take concrete shape. The performance of the current ministers and the anti-incumbency factor in their assembly constituencies can be made the basis for this change. At the same time, there is a preparation to balance the regional and social equations by bringing new faces into the cabinet.
The formation of the new executive of the BJP state organization before the cabinet is considered almost certain. Before the next assembly elections, there has been a stir within the party in the competition among the bigwigs to get place to the close ones in the vacant places in the organization and cabinet. The sudden increase in activity of MPs, former MPs and former Chief Ministers from New Delhi to within the state is being linked to this. There are currently five vacancies in the state cabinet. Six ministers along with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami are part of his team. When Chief Minister Dhami took oath in the year 2022, three places were vacant in his cabinet. After the death of Cabinet Minister Chandan Ram Das in April 2023, one position in the cabinet became vacant. In March this year, one more vacancy increased due to the resignation of Cabinet Minister Premchand Agarwal. Chief Minister Dhami is in charge of the departments of the two vacant ministerial posts. He currently has more than 35 departments. Now less time is left for the assembly elections to be held in the year 2027. In such a situation, the party high command is serious about filling the vacant posts of the cabinet and the formation of a new executive of the state organization. On the instructions of the high command, a meeting has been held in this regard between BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt, Chief Minister Dhami and the MPs of the state with the central officials.
As soon as the discussion of change in the organization and the cabinet started, factional politics started raising its head. Many MPs are engaged in bringing new warmth in the relationship, leaving behind the long-standing bitterness and differences with each other. There was a round of allegations and counter-allegations, it is a different matter that due to the strictness of the high command, it could not be effective.
