The Pahari cap, the Gulband, the Tehri nose ring, the Kumaon Pichhoda, and the traditional attire of the Jaunsar-Bawar region. On Monday, President Draupadi Murmu, who was in the Assembly to address a special session commemorating the silver jubilee of the establishment of Uttarakhand, also became acquainted with these traditional clothing and jewelry of Uttarakhand. On the first day of the special session, all the MLAs arrived in the House dressed in Pahari attire. Due to the special session, there was no political sparring; instead, the atmosphere was filled with joy. The presence of President Draupadi Murmu added a touch of dignity to the special session, and MLAs from both the ruling and opposition parties had also made special preparations for the occasion. They arrived in Pahari attire. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wore a dhoti-kurta and a Pahari cap, while Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan also wore a Pahari cap and Pichhoda. Nearly all the ministers and MLAs from the ruling party, along with several opposition MLAs, wore Pahari caps of various colors. MLA Durgeshwar Lal arrived in the House in traditional attire. Women MLAs also caught the President’s attention. MLAs Asha Nautiyal, Sarita Arya, and Renu Bisht wore nose rings, garlands, and Pichhoda.
MPs and former Chief Ministers also witnessed the President’s address during the special session of the Assembly. Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and former Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former Chief Ministers Vijay Bahuguna and Tirath Singh Rawat, Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, former Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, Rajya Sabha member Naresh Bansal, Dr. Kalpana Saini, and other guests were present in the special gallery of the Assembly to hear the President’s address.
